Another international break has come and gone, bringing us closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19 next year.

2026 FIFA World Cup host venues

For the first time, 48 teams will compete in the tournament, with matches held in 16 host cities:

United States: Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Atlanta, Boston, Miami, New York-New Jersey, Philadelphia

Mexico: Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey

Canada: Vancouver, Toronto

18 teams already qualified for the 2026 World Cup

So far, 18 of the 48 World Cup participants have been confirmed. This includes the three co-hosts and 15 qualifiers from different regions.

AFC (Asia)

  • Australia
  • Iran
  • Japan
  • Jordan
  • South Korea
  • Uzbekistan

CAF (Africa)

  • Morocco
  • Tunisia

CONCACAF (North America, Central America, Caribbean)

  • Canada (co-host)
  • Mexico (co-host)
  • United States (co-host)

CONMEBOL (South America)

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Paraguay
  • Uruguay

OFC (Oceania)

  • New Zealand

Jordan and Uzbekistan will be making their FIFA World Cup debuts.

Playoffs and ongoing qualification

Qualification in Oceania (OFC) and South America (CONMEBOL) is complete. However, New Caledonia and Bolivia will face inter-confederation playoffs in March 2026 against teams from Asia, Africa, and CONCACAF for two final tournament spots.

Qualification is still underway in Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF), and Europe (UEFA), where no teams have yet secured a place. European qualification will conclude in March 2026.
