Fans of football in the United States, it is safe to say, have responded positively to the announcement of Messi’s imminent arrival to MLS. The euphoria the move has created is something that has not been seen for years and his move from PSG is set to usher in a new era of interest in the sport that is still growing in the states.

Around just 24 hours after the announcement of the deal that the World Cup winner struck with the club owned by the last great MLS sensation, David Beckham, it has been confirmed by the ticketing companies that tickets for all remaining Inter Miami games this season, both home and away, are now sold out. The game against Cruz Azul sold out in minutes, and now the rest of MLS has followed suit.

Sergio Agüero can’t find a ticket to Miami

All Inter Miami tickets as of August 20 2023 are sold out, the first of the games being against Charlotte FC. Given the estimated date of Messi’s first appearance to be at the end of July, the club have 12 games that the Argentine could feature in before the end of the year. Even Sergio Agüero, a close friend of Messi, said that he asked the ex-Barça player for a ticket but was unable to find any that weren’t sold out. The Inter Miami Instagram page (6.1M) now has more followers than the Dallas Cowboys (4.5M).

How much are Inter Miami tickets?

Media outlets in the USA are reporting that the prices of the tickets have also shot through the roof, with tickets going on resale for anything from $300 to a staggering $3,500, depending on the game and seat within the various stadiums across the country that the World Champion could visit. Various reports said that ticket prices jumped from under $30 to over $300 after the news broke of the move.

When will Messi play for Inter Miami?

It must be remembered that Messi’s debut date has not been confirmed, but that has not stopped the fans from going wild and spending, in some cases, upwards of $3,000 for a chance to see him play. It will also be interesting to see how he lines up in the team.

Messimania in Miami, is real, and it’s already spread across the entire US. MLS currently stands for Major League Soccer, but how long will it take before the M means Messi?
