América facing another injury blow ahead of big-name Liga MX matchup
With Sebastián Cáceres and Henry Martín already ruled out, Club América could also lose another important player.

Club América will be without a key player for their upcoming match against Monterrey, as center-back Sebastián Cáceres has been ruled out due to injury. Head coach André Jardine won’t be able to count on the Uruguayan defender this weekend, and another major absence could be looming: Spanish midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo.
While the club has yet to release an official medical update, TUDN has reported that Fidalgo is currently training separately from the rest of the squad. The Águilas’ medical staff will evaluate him in the coming days to determine whether he’ll be fit to play in this week’s matchday-nine fixture of the Apertura 2025.
What injury does Álvaro Fidalgo have?
Fidalgo picked up a knee injury during the recent Clásico Nacional against Chivas, held at Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes. He was forced to depart the pitch, leaving his teammates to carry on without him - a task that proved too much, as América fell to their Guadalajara rivals.
For now, according to TUDN, Fidalgo will continue to train individually until the medical team completes its assessment. That means Jardine will need to prepare for Monterrey with the players currently available, especially since striker Henry Martín is also sidelined.
