Club America’s start to the Apertura 2023 began with a defeat at home against the Bravos de Juárez but from that point on the Coapa side never faltered and ended the regular season with 40 points and were the first team to qualify for the Liguilla. Andre Jardin’s side now face a long wait of almost three weeks before getting back into post season action.

The regular phase of Apertura 2023 concluded last weekend and Liga MX will have a ten day break as players leave for international duty with Mexico in action against Honduras with a ticket to the Copa América 2024 on the line for the winner.

The six qualifiers for the Apertura 2023 Liguilla: América, Monterrey, Tigres, Pumas, Chivas and Puebla, will have an additional week to get back to action as the new play-in series of games will be played first to determine which of, Atlético San Luis, Santos, León or Mazatlán progress to the last eight.

How long will America be out of action?

America will be out of action from 12 November to 29/30 November when the quarterfinals are set to commence which will be 17 or 18 days of no competitive football for Jardine’s side with these breaks occasionally given over to friendly matches in the United States or in Mexico City with Expansión teams, although at present nothing has been announced.

América to recover injured players for the Liguilla

In the home straight of the regular season, the Coapa side were without the likes of Kevin Álvarez, Diego Valdés, Leonardo Suárez and Brian Rodríguez, and are expected to have all apart from Rodriguez back for the season climax.
