Club América’s 0-0 stalemate with Querétaro means Las Águilas have now drawn their opening game in four consecutive Liga MX tournaments.

América booed off at Azteca

Both teams had several chances to score in Saturday’s Clausura 2023 matchday-one clash, but neither could find the net and there were boos at the Estadio Azteca after the final whistle.

In the Apertura 2021 championship, América visited Querétaro at the Estadio Corregidora and, just like this weekend, the encounter ended in a goalless draw.

In the Clausura 2022, the 13-time Mexican champions kicked off their campaign away to Puebla, the match-up at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc finishing 1-1.

And in the most recent Liga MX tournament, the Apertura 2022, Fernando Ortiz’s side had to settle for a point at home to Atlas, drawing 0-0 with the Guadalajara side.

Two years since Águilas’ last winning start

The last tournament in which América took all three points on matchday one was the Guardianes 2021. Los Azulcremas beat Atlético San Luis 2-1 at the Azteca.
