Apertura 2025 playoff picture: Liga MX quarterfinal matchups confirmed

Bravos de Juárez made history by reaching the playoffs for the first time in their existence, also claiming their first knockout-stage victory at the Olímpico Benito Juárez. They become the eighth and final team to qualify for this season’s Liga MX Apertura quarterfinals.

Liga MX Apertura 2025 quarterfinal matchups

(1) Toluca vs. Juárez (8)

The Red Devils and Bravos met in the fourth round of this season, with Toluca cruising to a 2-0 win. This will be their first-ever meeting in the playoffs.

(2) Tigres UANL vs. Tijuana (7)

The university club faces a tough test against the Xolos, who they defeated 2-0 in round 15. This is not their first playoff encounter; Tigres advanced past Tijuana 4-0 on aggregate in the 2017 Clausura semifinals.

(3) Cruz Azul vs. Guadalajara (6)

Already shaping up as the most intriguing tie, Cruz Azul beat Chivas 2-1 in round seven. Their last playoff clash dates back to the Apertura 2006 quarterfinals, when Chivas won 4-2 on aggregate.

(4) América vs. Monterrey (5)

Arguably the most evenly matched tie features América, finalists in the last four tournaments, against a strong Monterrey squad. They drew 2-2 in round nine, and their most recent playoff meeting was the Apertura 2024 final, where América became the first team to win three consecutive short tournaments.
