Barcelona vs Sevilla preview

Barcelona

The hosts will be aiming to record their 10th straight win in all competitions when they host Sevilla at Camp Noy on Sunday.

After their Champions League collapse, Xavi Hernández’s men have bounced back with wins in all the tournaments they have played so far.

Els Blaugrana became the Spanish Super Cup champs after defeating Real Madrid in the final, while they will also face their archrivals in the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Meanwhile, in LaLiga the Catalan powerhouses are leading the standings, five points clear of second-placed Real, after having only suffered one loss so far.

Sevilla

Meanwhile, the Andalusian team, sitting 13th with 21 points, will try to add another positive result, as they recorded three wins from their last four league matches.

Despite their place in the table, only two points separate Sevilla from Cádiz, the first team in the relegation zone -with one more game played-, but at the same time, if Los Hispalenses manage to get some positive results they could climb up quite a few spots.

Sevilla, who finished fourth in the last three seasons, are 13 points behind fourth-placed Atlético Madrid, so the Champions League spots seem quite a difficult objective for them.

However, if they want to reach that goal, they should start recording some wins as soon as possible, but Barcelona don’t seem the easiest opponents to start with: the Catalans have not lost to Sevilla in Spain’s top flight since 2015.

Barcelona vs Sevilla: prediction

Barcelona will try to take advantage of their current form to come out on top in front of their fans, although Sevilla, despite their weak season, could give Xavi’s side a scare. However, given the consistency Barça have shown in the defensive line once they have recovered all of their players, they are expected to come out on top.

Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla
