Enrique Cerezo welcomed new signing Nahuel Molina during his official presentation as an Atlético Madrid player on Friday. The Atleti president, indirectly, sent a clear and resounding message about the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo ending up at the Metropolitano.

Atleti’s transfer dealings complete

Cerezo began his speech, “With this incorporation, our sports management fits the final piece of the jigsaw we were looking for. I repeat to our journalist friends, Nahuel’s incorporation is the last piece we were looking for,” - clearly alluding to the alleged negotiations for Cristiano. Just a few hours ago, the Portuguese star left a message on social media in which he laughed at the picture of a banner made by Atlético fans declaring that he would not be welcome. The banner was unfurled during Atleti’s friendly against Numancia.

And of course the president also had words of praise for Molina, as well as for the man who made the deal possible - bringing in a player who coach Diego Simeone personally requested to strengthen a position which had been weakened after Kieran Trippier’s departure in January. “The right-back position was the only one which we did not have two players for. I congratulate Andrea Berta, who has made sure that the position will be occupied by our number one option, Nahuel Molina”.
