Chelsea confident of signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City
Sterling’s contract at City expires in 2023 and he could leave the Etihad Stadium after seven years.
Chelsea are confident that they can complete a deal for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, according to The Athletic.
Sterling’s contract at City expires in 2023 and he could leave the Etihad Stadium after seven years. The England international has reportedly been talking to people about what life is like at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel.
Sterling has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups during his seven-year spell at City, scoring 131 goals in 339 appearances for the club. Still only 27, he joined City from Liverpool in the summer of 2015 for an initial £44 million.
Jesus set for move to London
Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus could also depart the club this summer. Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in the 25-year-old, who will have less game time under Pep Guardiola due to the arrival of Erling Haaland.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta knows him well from their time together at City and would like to bring him to North London. In 2022, Arteta has seen strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave the Emirates Stadium. Negotiations for Jesus are set to enter a crucial stage.
Talks underway for Lukaku
The Athletic reported earlier this week that talks between Inter and Chelsea are underway for Romelu Lukaku. Inter are expected to submit an improved offer after their initial approach was turned down.
A loan deal that would allow the Belgian striker to rejoin Inter just a year on from the £97.5 million switch. Inter would cover the player’s salary.
