Cherki runs the show: City close the gap after Arsenal slip
O’Reilly contributed two assists as City eased past Chelsea and close the gap on Arsenal. Pep’s team are now six points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

Manchester City had a chance they simply couldn’t waste — and they seized it. Arsenal slipped 1–2 at home to Bournemouth yesterday, and City pounced with a dominant 0-3 win at Stamford Bridge.
When you have a magician wearing the No. 10 shirt, everything gets easier. And with Rayan Cherki delivering yet another masterclass, Pep Guardiola’s team is very much alive in the race for the Premier League title. He’s the kind of No. 10 this sport barely produces anymore.
Cherki pulled the strings, providing an assist as O’Reilly, Guéhi, and Doku scored. Arsenal now sits six points ahead, having played an extra match — and they still have to visit the Etihad... Mikel Arteta has reasons to worry. So does Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior, whose future is looking increasingly shaky.

City, finally resembling the April juggernaut of past seasons, steamrolled a Chelsea side that’s falling apart. Three straight Premier League losses now leave the Blues four points outside the Champions League spots. Given the club’s recent history, missing out on Europe’s top competition would make it hard for Rosenior to keep his job.
Sunshine, but no spark
The sun was out in West London — bright enough that Enzo Fernández, suspended for his second match after his controversial comments, watched from the bench wearing sunglasses. But both teams came out flat. Chelsea created more chances in the first half, yet the tempo never allowed Stamford Bridge to truly connect with the match. Their one moment of joy didn’t last: Marc Cucurella had the ball in the net, but VAR ruled him offside.

Cherki turns the game into his playground
Whatever hope Chelsea had evaporated after halftime. The match lasted only as long as Cherki allowed it. City’s No. 10 is the last surviving link to pure street football — endless creativity, effortless flair. With two assists in six minutes and a highlight reel of technical brilliance, he reminded everyone why he’s considered a generational talent.
First came a perfect cross to Nico O’Reilly, who continues to shine — nine goals this season, including two in the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal. Moments later, Cherki sliced Chelsea open with a fantasy‑level through ball to Guéhi, weaving across the top of the box before finding the academy product inside the six‑yard area. Despite his Chelsea past, Guéhi celebrated.

City’s outstanding second half was capped by Doku, thanks to a costly mistake from Moisés Caicedo. In the 68th minute, the Ecuadorian lost the ball deep in his own half, and the Belgian winger punished him instantly. The only downside for City was an injury to O’Reilly. Rodri, despite taking a nasty stomp from Lavia, managed to finish the match.
A brilliant save from Donnarumma to deny Cucurella secured another clean sheet, and Mateo Kovacic made his return to Stamford Bridge more than five months after his last appearance (October 21 vs. Villarreal in the Champions League).
It all wrapped up a smooth, almost effortless afternoon for City — one so comfortable that Stamford Bridge ended the match chanting “Olés”… at their own players.
