Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández is in his third season with the Los Angeles Galaxy and he has been very vocal that his main goal is to win the MLS Cup. The Mexican international has scored five goals in 10 appearances so far this campaign and the Galaxy are in third place in the Western Conference, one point behind second place Austin FC.

Chicharito could return to European soccer

The 33-year-old is under contract with the Major League Soccer side until 2023 with an option to extend it one more year, but he could leave as soon as this summer. According to multiple reports, the newly appointed head coach of AEK Athens, Matías Almeyda, has requested the Greek Super League side to sign Chicharito during the summer transfer window.

The Los Angeles Galaxy paid close to $10 million to Sevilla FC to bring in Hernández in January 2020, but his market value has dropped to $2.2 million according to transfermarkt. Even though Chicharito is happy in Los Angeles, one of his main objectives is to return to the Mexico national team and play in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in November in Qatar.

A return to European soccer could open the doors of the national team for Chicharito and play in his last World Cup. Based on the recent declaration of Hernández, he is happy living in Los Angeles and focus with winning the league title for the Galaxy for the first time since 2014.
