Christian Pulisic injury update brings bad news for AC Milan fans
The USMNT star has been in incredible form in Serie A this year but will not return to the field again in 2024.
AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic has been one of the stars of Serie A in the first few months of the season but he is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
The USMNT star picked an an injury in the first half of Milan’s 2-1 loss to Atalanta on Friday night. The extent of the issue was not initially clear but an MRI scan has since found that he suffered a torn muscle in his right calf.
This will likely keep him out for the remainder of 2024, meaning that he will miss this weekend’s Champions League meeting with Crvena zvezda and the visit of Roma on December 29. Pulisic faces a race against time to return for the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Juventus on January 3.
He has been a key presence in big games for AC Milan this year, providing three goals and an assist in five Champions League fixtures. After losing their first two league phase fixtures Milan have bounced back with three wins on the bounce, including an incredible 3-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Last month former AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic was full of praise for Pulisic’s development, giving credit to head coach Paulo Fonseca for allowing his talent to blossom.
Ibrahimovic said: “They have an optimal environment in which to focus solely on football and performing on the pitch. As for Pulisic, we have turned his form back around and now you can see that he is really happy on the pitch, and that is why he is performing at a high level."
