CONCACAF maintains domination in Women’s soccer in latest FIFA ranking

The United States women’s national team and Canada are in the top 10 in the latest FIFA ranking prior to the start of the CONCACAF W Championship.

The United States women’s national team will make their debut in the CONCACAF W Championship against Haiti with the objective to secure a spot in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The tournament is hosted by Mexico and the USWNT team will kick off their qualifying campaign at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey.

Prior to the start of the campaign, FIFA released the latest rankings and the United States women’s national team remains atop and Canada in sixth place. While Mexico was ranked in 26th place, Costa Rica in 37th and Jamaica in 51st. CONCACAF sides ranked higher than CONMEBOL teams and they keep dominating women’s soccer.

The United States women’s national team is coming off a pair of victories over Colombia in friendly fixtures that served as preparation for the CONCACAF W Championship. The USWNT is looking for their ninth consecutive qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The United States has played in every World Cup since 1911 and they will also have the opportunity to secure their spot for their eight consecutive Summer Olympics.
