Cristiano Ronaldo trolls Sergio Ramos over Instagram follower count
The Al Nassr star and former Real Madrid teammate echoed the social media achievement but had a sly dig while he was at it.
Sergio Ramos is going through a relatively tough time in terms of sport. The man from Camas, with around two weeks to go until the transfer windows close, finds himself without a team after putting an end to his journey with Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, the defender continues to grind it out day and night to keep his fitness up and be ready for a possible call.
Sergio Ramos hits 60 million on Instagram
Ramos is, however, continuing to pull in new followers on his social media account and has now topped the not-too-shabby figure of 60 million on Instagram. For this reason he has decided to hold a contest to give away 20 pairs of Mizuno boots, the brand that sponsors him, with his signature on them.
“We started in 2014 and - although it seems impossible - we are now 60 million strong,” he wrote in both Spanish and English. “To celebrate this and return some of the love you all give me, I’ve got a great competition for you: a giveaway of 20 pairs of signed Mizuno boots.”
Those interested in getting Sergio Ramos’s boots have to share through a video, photograph or drawing their favourite moment of the Andalusian footballer’s career or life.
Cristiano pipes up on Ramos’ achievement
Simple enough and obviously Ramos leaves the door open for some rival fans to poke fun at their own favourite moments when Ramos was not so successful. But there was a surprise comment from an old teammate, namely Real Madrid legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The now Saudi-based veteran forward recently exceeded 600 million followers on Instagram, and wasn’t slow in poking fun at his friend along with his congratulations.
“You need another zero to catch me!” the Portuguese superstar joked, along with a laughing face emoji. But Ramos had his own retort at the ready.
“Don’t get complacent, Cris. A specialist in comebacks. Minute 93 and all that,” he wrote, referencing that famous headed goal against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League final.
Remember that call that Ramos is waiting for? It could well be to join Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League...
