Date and kick-off time confirmed for El Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid that could decide LaLiga

Barcelona and Real Madrid remain neck-and-neck in LaLiga after 29 games with just four points separating the two teams heading into the final stretch.

Hansi Flick’s men scraped a narrow 1-0 win against Rayo on Sunday afternoon, obliging Madrid to get a result against their city rivals Atleti in the derby later that evening. Vinicius’ sensational winner settled a tense encounter at the Bernabéu to keep Los Blancos in the hunt.

Barça and Madrid have held the top two positions since Week 16 (mid-December) with the distance between the two fluctuating over the next nine matchdays. The Catalans have held a four-point gap since Week 25 and with nine matches left to play, both teams could still drop points but it is looking increasingly likely that the pivotal point of the season could be when they face each other in Week 35.

When is El Clásico?

The showdown between Barcelona and Real Madrid corresponding to matchday 35 of LaLiga is set for Sunday, May 10, kicking off at 3:00 p.m. ET / 12 noon PT (21:00 hours local time) at Spotify Camp Nou, according to details released by broadcasters Movistar Plus.

Of course anything could happen between now and then. On paper, perhaps Barça have the tougher run-in, with an away trip to Atlético and with Betis and Celta both visiting Camp Nou.

Madrid have to travel to Seville twice - to the Villamarín to face Betis on April 26 and the Sánchez Pizjuán in the penultimate matchday - neither of those games will be easy.

As for the head-to-head situation, Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at the Bernabéu back in October.
