El Clásico returns home with Barcelona chasing record payday against Real Madrid

El Clásico returns to the Spotify Camp Nou after Barcelona’s exile at the Lluís Companys Stadium in Montjuïc. It is a sentimental, sporting and, possibly, financial boost. Ahead of the meeting with Real Madrid, the Catalan club not only wants to win, or draw, to mathematically seal the La Liga title, but is also targeting a revenue record for a Clásico, currently set at the $15.7 million brought in last season.

Barcelona executives believe the goal is within reach. “Ticket sales have not yet closed, they are moving at a very good pace and we cannot rule out beating that figure ($15.7 million), but it is not certain yet. If we do it, it will be by a small margin,” they say.

The uncertainty lies in the fact that Montjuïc had 25,000 freely priced tickets on sale, while this time, at the Spotify Camp Nou, there are 40% fewer. Even so, the situation is exceptional because Barcelona are playing for the league title and nobody wants to miss the game. There is less supply, but also more demand, so ticket prices are higher.

VIP tickets drive Barcelona’s Clásico revenue push

In last season’s game between Barça and Madrid, the average ticket price, excluding VAT, was $630, while VIP seat revenue alone reached almost $4.9 million, with an average price of $3,840.

As of today, anyone wanting to buy a VIP ticket for Sunday’s game must pay at least $2,850, while the cheapest VIP Premium ticket is set at $3,250. The most expensive are the Players Zone tickets, which cost $14,250, and the presidential box seats, at $11,400. Those have come down in price. To buy a regular ticket, fans must contact Barcelona, but you’ll be lucky to get one this late.

A full Camp Nou awaits Real Madrid

The atmosphere at the Spotify Camp Nou will be spectacular. A full house is expected, surpassing the little more than 60,000 fans who attended the derby against Espanyol.

There will be a special mosaic for the game and, depending on whether Hansi Flick’s team win the LaLiga title, there will be a celebration inside the stadium. The victory parade would be held on Monday.
