Emotional Pep Guardiola finally addresses Manchester City future after Arsenal clinch Premier League title
Guardiola congratulated Mikel Arteta and Arsenal after City’s title hopes ended, and refused to deny mounting reports that he will leave the club after next season.

Manchester City suffered a brutal double blow on Tuesday. A frustrating 1-1 draw against Bournemouth officially handed the Premier League title to Arsenal, while speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future intensified even further.
Although nothing has been confirmed publicly, reports in England continue to suggest Guardiola is preparing to step down at the end of the season. Speaking after the game, the City manager repeatedly avoided direct questions about his future, despite the growing belief that his departure is already one of soccer’s worst-kept secrets.
Before addressing the speculation, Guardiola made a point of congratulating Arsenal and former assistant Mikel Arteta on winning the title.
“Congratulations Arsenal, Mikel and his backroom staff for this Premier League title. Well deserved,” Guardiola said.
If this is the end, Pep Guardiola's time at Manchester City has truly been remarkable 👏🩵

Guardiola’s immediate plans
The Spaniard then turned to the subject dominating the postgame conversation: whether he plans to remain at the Etihad Stadium beyond next season.
“With the club, I always talk but not now,” Guardiola explained. “When it was three, four seasons ago, when there was one year left I should talk with my chairman [Khaldoon Al Mubarak] first. When I talk with my chairman, we decide whether to have one more year and we talk everything will decide.”
Guardiola, who still has one year remaining on his current deal, stressed that he and the club had agreed to hold those conversations only after the season ends.
“Listen, I have one more year contract,” he said. ”I will not tell you here because I have to talk to my chairman, my players, my staff. When we play for the FA Cup, before we qualify for the Champions League, we play for the Premier League, there is just one thing in my mind and the focus is try to win the team to the highest points and we have done."
Guardiola promises City will “be back”
As reporters continued to push for answers, Guardiola attempted to strike a more optimistic tone about Manchester City’s future after surrendering the title to Arsenal.
“Next season, we’ll be back,” Guardiola insisted. “Manchester City will return and we’ll try to compete until the very end in every competition.”
“And sometimes you win, sometimes you lose because your opponents are really good and really tough. We have to try again.”
By the end of the news conference, Guardiola appeared increasingly emotional as he delivered a direct message to City supporters.
“Let me talk with my chairman. I know they love me so much, I love them more,” he said. ”It’s the best place to be. I love that place, I adore it. Let me talk about my club. People say I talk with a million people and I was incredibly focused on my job. We are in the competitions. I was there and this is what I have to do.”
