Manchester City striker and UEFA Player of the Year, Erling Haaland, spoke on a podcast where he discussed a potential future move to MLS.

The Norwegian won the 2022-23 UEFA Player of the Year Award, beating Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne in a vote.

He also won the Premier League MVP last season with Manchester City. In addition to also breaking the record for most goals in a campaign, he won the treble (Premier League, FA Cup & Champions League) with Pep Guardiola, making himself the undisputed top striker in Europe.

Haaland speaks about MLS future

In an interview for the “Impaulsive” podcast, with Logan Paul and KSI, the Norwegian confessed that he would consider the possibility of following the Lionel Messi’s path to the MLS in the final stages of his career, although there is still a long time left until that moment arrives.

I’ve not be there much, so it’s difficult to say”, Haaland said when asked about a potential stint in MLS. But I’m 23, people are going over to the MLS and playing football there, I’ve never thought of it because I’m young. I’m a footballer, in ten years I’m 33 and I’ve got my last couple of years in football,” said the Manchester City forward.

What is the secret behind Haaland’s success?

In the same interview, he revealed one of his secrets to staying in shape: “I think sleep is the most important thing in the world,’ Haaland said. “So to sleep good; simple kinds of things: blue-light blocking glasses, shutting out all the signals in the bedroom. To do a lot of things is not good but to do small things every single day for a longer period really pays off”, Erling said.

As Haaland says, ten years would need to pass before he thinks about taking his boots to the United States, but the fact that Messi decided to leave the elite world of European football for a stateside stint will surely put the idea into the minds of many others who will now want to do it. Just look at Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, who joined the 2022 World Cup winner at Inter Miami. Let’s see if one day, Erling does too.
