Estados Unidos Update:

Formula 1 is gearing up for its long‑awaited return after the series hit pause due to escalating conflicts in the Middle East — a situation that forced the cancellation of both the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain Grands Prix. That means the next stop on the calendar is Miami, where the action picks back up on Sunday, May 2 at the Miami Gardens circuit. And this year’s race could be especially memorable for Franco Colapinto and Sergio “Checo” Pérez, thanks to one unexpected name dominating the buzz: Lionel Messi.

Messi invited to Miami GP

According to reporting from Argentine journalist Fernando Svaluto, there’s a strong chance Messi will attend the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday after receiving an invitation to meet up with fellow Argentine and rising F1 driver Franco Colapinto.

If Messi does show up, he won’t just be reconnecting with Colapinto. Several top F1 stars — including Checo Pérez and reigning champion Max Verstappen — have openly expressed their admiration for the Inter Miami superstar. A meet‑up between global icons from both sports suddenly feels very possible.

Since arriving in Miami and joining MLS, Messi has made a habit of popping up at major U.S. sporting events. He’s already been spotted at the Super Bowl and the Miami Open, so an appearance at Formula 1’s biggest American spectacle fits right in.

Will Messi actually make it to the Miami Grand Prix?

This time, the schedule works perfectly in Messi’s favor. Inter Miami plays one day earlier, on Saturday, May 1, in the season’s second rivalry match against Orlando City at Nu Stadium.

With no conflicts on Sunday, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Messi trackside at the Miami GP — cheering on Colapinto, catching up with Checo Pérez, and soaking in one of the most glamorous events on the sports calendar.

And he might not come alone. Other Inter Miami stars like Luis Suárez, Rodrigo De Paul, and Javier Mascherano could easily join him, turning the paddock into a full‑blown fútbol reunion.
