Update:

The atmosphere at Anoeta will be electric on Wednesday night as Real Sociedad return to LaLiga action still basking in the glory of their Copa del Rey triumph. Just four days ago, the Txuri-Urdin secured their fourth cup title in a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Atlético Madrid at La Cartuja. The match, which ended 2-2 after extra time, saw goalkeeper Unai Marrero emerge as the hero, and the squad now carries that immense momentum back to San Sebastián to face a disciplined Getafe side.

For American manager Pellegrino Matarazzo, the challenge lies in managing the inevitable “title hangover” while maintaining a push for a Champions League place (La Real have already secured a place in the Europa League next season via the Copa victory). Since taking over in December, Matarazzo has orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, lifting the club from the fringes of the relegation zone to the upper half of the table. With stars like Mikel Oyarzabal and Ander Barrenetxea—who scored the fastest goal in cup final history last Saturday—in peak form, the Basque side looks to capitalize on their high spirits to secure another three points at home.

Getafe, however, will be far from a welcoming party. Sitting closely behind La Real in the standings, the “Azulones” are known for their defensive resilience and physical style of play, which could test the fatigue levels of the Basque side that played 120 minutes over the weekend. As the home fans prepare to welcome their champions, the focus shifts from the celebration in Seville to the gritty reality of the league, where a win tonight would further cement this group as one of the most successful generations in the club’s history
