On Wednesday, the Ryder Cup confirmed the list of celebrities who will compete on 27 September in the All-Star Match preceding one of golf’s and sports’ most iconic competitions.

Ryder Cup All-Star challenge

One name that stands out in the list of sporting celebrities is Gareth Bale. The former Real Madrid footballer will be the main attraction of the event, as he will once again have the opportunity to showcase his passion for golf. This passion has already led him to compete in tournaments such as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he managed to finish in the Top-20 in the amateur category.

And you’ll remember just how much his love for golf got him, and us, some bad press.

Who is Bale’s Ryder Cup partner?

Bale won’t be the only sports superstar competing in this All-Star match, as his skills on the green will also be showcased by Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz, and former Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko.

Two iconic figures in Ryder Cup history, and former captains, Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin, are the captains for this celebrity match.

The Ryder Cup has also revealed the pairings and matchups that will take place during this All-Star match. Welshman Bale will actually team up with his Scottish captain Montgomerie, and they’ll face off against the duo of Andriy Shevchenko and Pavin.

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz will compete alongside Italian golfer Tommaso Perrino against the pair of Novak Djokovic and golfer Kipp Popert. This All-Star event will precede the epic battle between Europe and the United States for golf’s global supremacy.
