Two European giants collide in Monchengladbach in the Uefa Nations League as League A Group 3 leaders Italy face Germany on Tuesday in one of the most interesting games of the day.

After three successive 1-1 draws in the competition, Die Mannschaft are looking for the first victory that could see them topping the group in Group 3 if Hungary don’t beat England. The Hungarian side made life difficult for Germany last Saturday, as Hansi Flick’s men needed to come back from a goal down, keeping an unbeaten record now dating back some 12 games.

Germany, who have just won one match from seven away fixtures since the Nations League began in 2018, have gone unbeaten in their last five games against the Italians in all competitions.

Germany looking for their first win vs. a younger Italy

Meanwhile, Italy is in the middle of a rejuvenating process after failing to qualify for the Qatar World Cup, and the results are coming, as a considerably younger lineup have made it to the top of their Nations League group when there are still three more games to be played.

The Azzurri last played England in a goalless draw on Saturday, but the Italians had previously defeated Hungary and grabbed another draw against Germany (1-1).

However, the beginning of the summer season wasn’t the best for Roberto Mancini’s team, as the disappointment of not making it to the World Cup final stage was followed by their clear loss to Argentina in the Finalissima Cup.

Only two players who started the Nations League final at Wembley last year featured in the starting XI at the weekend and this younger group of players will seek to grab another three points to reinforce their leadership in the group.
