Gignac back training but when will he return for Tigres?

The Frenchman returned to training with his teammates although was limited in the activity that could be undertaken.

André Pierre-Gignac’s return to the pitch with Tigres is drawing nearer as he resumed training with the team. The Frenchman participated for the first time ahead of the third match of the Apertura 2023 against León. The session took place on Tuesday morning at Estadio Universitario, and Gignac was present throughout the entire practice.

Gignac pushing for starting place

While it is encouraging to see him back in with the auriazul players, the decision on his official clearance to play has not been made yet. His condition will continue to be assessed throughout the week, and a final determination will be made on Friday regarding his availability to play against the ‘Fiera’.

It should be noted that the European star suffered a trauma to his hip and left thigh prior to his debut in the tournament against Puebla, also missing the match against Juárez the previous weekend.

The estimated date of his return is still uncertain, but in the event that he misses this Saturday’s game then it could be a big appearance on July 26 in the team’s Leagues Cup debut, where they will measure up against MLS side the Portland Timbers.
