Tigres added another trophy in their honors list after lifting the 2023 Campeones Cup on Wednesday - an achievement that André-Pierre Gignac was particularly happy about. The Auriazules beat Los Angeles FC 2-4 in a penalty shootout after their game at BMO stadium ended without goals. Now, the French centre-forward has only one thing on his mind and that is to continue winning with the club.

Gignac feels that that they are installing a winning mentality in the new, emerging generations of players. He is also delighted that there is a new addition to the club’s trophy room.

The ambition will always be there, for everyone, for the new generation,” he told TUDN during the team’s post-match celebrations. “What we want is to win more, we are going to try to win every tournaments we take part in. It’s nice to try to reach the final of each competition. We did it tonight - it was a complicated match, but at the end of the day it is one more achievement for the club”.

Tigres’ most successful players

Better still for Ginac is that he has joined two club legends: Javier Aquino and Nahuel Guzmán as the three most successful players in club history - all three having won a total of 12 titles with Tigres. Behind them with 11 titles are Jesús Dueñas, Hugo Ayala and Jorge Torres Nilo.

Tigres most successful players honors list

  • 5 Liga MX (Aperura 2015, 2016, 2017; Clausura 2019 and 2023)
  • 4 Campeón de Campeones Cups (2017, 2018, 2019, 2023)
  • 2 Campeones Cup (2018, 2023)
  • 1 CONCACAF Champions League (2020)

With last night’s Campeones Cup victory, Tigres are making up lost ground after having gone three years without winning anything. The club’s previous title was the Concachampions in 2020. Under coach Robert Dante Siboldi, it seems that a new golden era is about to begin for the Auriazules.
