Giovanni Reyna joins fellow USMNT players at Nottingham Forest
Reyna will have an opportunity to impress once again at club level after moving to Forest.
Giovanni Reyna has landed in the Premier League for the remainder of the season with Nottingham Forest, where, alongside Matt Turner and Ethan Horvath, he will be the third US national team player in the squad.
After the arrival of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, he struggled for game time and now the USMNT attacking midfielder has an opportunity to showcase his attacking qualities at the City Ground.
The loan will be until June without an option to buy, and the 21-year-old has - in recent hours - signed a new deal with the German team until 2026.
Reyna’s chance
The challenge for Reyna is not an easy one, as he arrives at a club that is in 16th place in the Premier League, just two points above Everton in 18th. His compatriot Turner has been strongly questioned by the club’s fans, who have blamed him for several mistakes that have cost the side points.
Getting back to playing regularly is one of his objectives, as in addition to the cracked fibula that kept him out of action at the start of the season with Dortmund, he failed to impress Edin Terzić and did not play a single full game. The most minutes he had in a match was 45 minutes against Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
