During the summer, Lionel Messi usually spends some vacation time in the United States and specifically in Miami, where he currently owns property. The Argentina international has said in the past that he would like to one day play in MLS, because of the lifestyle that is offered in America and the growth of the league.

Former teammate unsure about Messi playing in MLS

Gonzalo Higuaín has reached a peak form in his third season with Inter Miami CF and he tallies eight goals and two assists in 19 appearances so far this campaign. The 34-year-old played alongside Lionel Messi in the Argentina national team and prior to the game between Inter Miami against Toronto FC, Higuaín was asked about the possibilities of the PSG ace playing in MLS.

With Leo I haven’t spoken lately. He has a contract in Paris and I don’t know whether he will eventually come here. I already had the opportunity to play alongside him for nine years,” said Inter Miami’s No. 10. “We will also see if he finally joins us, although I do not have any certainty about that.”

In August 2021, Lionel Messi signed a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain and there is an option to extend it for one more season. The 35-year-old didn’t meet the expectations in his first campaign, but this year he already has two goals and two assists in two appearances.
