Liverpool fans have just a few more months with Jurgen Klopp at the helm. At the end of his ninth season at the club the German manager will step down.

The Liverpool fanbase, and the city at large, was left reeling last Friday when Klopp announced that he no longer felt he had the energy required to lead the team beyond the current season. But those final matches and, quite possibly, final trophies, will all be captured in a behind-the-scenes documentary announced on Wednesday.

The club has confirmed that a “new multi-episode documentary series” will be released at the end of the 2023/24 season, offering “fans and viewers a unique insight into the club”.

A press release explains: “Cameras will follow Jürgen Klopp and his team throughout his final season at the club. The documentary will subtly capture the team in areas agreed by the manager and players, without encroaching on private spaces.

“All this will be alongside an exploration of the club’s journey to the present day and the telling of human stories against the epic backdrop of Liverpool Football Club.”

How to watch the Liverpool documentary

No streaming details for the upcoming docuseries have yet been announced, but the identity of the production company involved may give a clue.

The documentary will be filmed, directed and produced by Lorton Entertainment, the company behind other sports titles like ‘Diego Maradona’ and ‘Make Us Dream’, which focused on former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard. Both of those documentaries were released on Amazon Prime.

It’s not yet clear if Lorton Entertainment will do the same with the new Liverpool documentary but there will be no shortage of supporters eager to get a behind-the-scenes view of Klopp’s final months on Merseyside.

“With this being my final season I thought we should provide a rare opportunity for viewers to have more of an inside look at what makes this club so special - its people,” Klopp said of the upcoming series.

“From our fans to our players and those who work so hard behind the scenes, constantly in pursuit of success for Liverpool Football Club. Thanks to this new documentary series viewers will be able to see what I see every day at this great club, and understand those amazing people more.”
