Inter’s Acerbi issues vicious threat to fan at Club World Cup in Seattle: “I’ll beat the hell out of you”
The “crazy” Italian defender didn’t take kindly to a supporter reminding him of the 5-0 Champions League final defeat to PSG.
Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi is once again at the center of controversy—this time after a heated exchange with a Paris Saint-Germain fan during the the FIFA Club World Cup in Seattle.
A video circulating on social media shows Acerbi reacting angrily after, during what appeared to be an autograph and photo session, the fan brought up Inter’s 5-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League final—a painful memory that clearly still stings for the veteran center back.
“Crazy” Acerbi’s heated exchange with PSG fan
“I’m a serious guy. I don’t like being made fun of,” Acerbi can be heard saying. “If I hear ‘Acerbi-Barcola’ when I walk by, I don’t like that. I’m crazy, I’ll beat the hell out of you.”
Acerbi’s reference to Bradley Barcola was presumably down to the fan using the PSG winger’s name to mock the Italian. After coming on as a substitute, Barcola ran the Inter defence ragged in the closing stages of that lopsided final.
Acerbi’s controversies
This latest flare-up adds to a long list of controversies involving the Italian defender, who overcame testicular cancer early in his career.
In recent years, Acerbi has clashed with fellow players—including a high-profile dust-up with Tiemoué Bakayoko at the San Siro—fallen out with Lazio’s ultras, been accused of racism by Juan Jesus, and most recently, came under fire for turning down a call-up to the Italian national team.
