Is U.S. soccer growing? Every American international in Europe’s top 5 leagues for the 2026/27 season
As the new campaign approaches in the major European leagues, we take a look at the USMNT-capped players at top clubs on the Old Continent.
As things stand, 24 current or former U.S. internationals are on the books at clubs in Europe’s top five leagues - England’s Premier League, France’s Ligue 1, Germany’s Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A, and Spain’s LaLiga.
Per the U.S. National Soccer Team Players Association (USNSTPA), the Premier League has the most USMNT-capped players, with seven. The newest addition to the American contingent in England’s top flight is Haji Wright, whose Coventry City team has secured a return to the elite division after a 25-year absence.
Meanwhile, Gio Reyna is close to swapping one major European league for another, with the midfielder poised to leave Germany’s Borussia Mönchengladach for France’s Racing Strasbourg.
