After the painful 3-0 defeat to Cruz Azul at the Estadio Azteca on matchday 10 of the Clausura 2024, Chivas striker José Juan Macías discussed the game. “We were outplayed in the first half and congratulations to them for what they did well,” he said. “We have to learn from this. There’s nothing left to do but work on the next games because there are Clásicos coming up.”

Macías went on to say that he is feeling much better after the injuries he had been suffering from. “I am regaining confidence and I am available when the team needs me. Today we were angry with the result, but now have to lift ourselves. I wish we could win every game... today was a hard blow and we will come back. Maybe because of my work, I deserve better things and I had two knee injuries, so this is about putting the best face on and we have to keep working.”

On the subject of sharing the pitch with Chicharito, Macías added: “Javier is an icon in Mexico. He is the top scorer of the national team for a reason and I have learned a lot [from him]. It is a great honor to be able to share a dressing room with him.” Chivas will face América on Wednesday in the ‘Clásico Nacional’ in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
