John Terry looks set to become the sporting director of Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab, as reported by Sports Zone.

The former England international returned to Stamford Bridge in July to pass on some of his knowledge to the Chelsea academy after leaving his role as assistant manager of Championship club Leicester City.

According to Sports Zone, Terry will become the club’s sporting director, overseeing recruitment, although it had previously been expected that he would join the club as their new first-team head coach.

Terry reportedly rejected the chance to coach Al-Shabab but is keen on the sporting director role due to the length of the contract on offer (short-term).

Premier League players move to Saudi Arabia

The 42-year-old previously worked as an assistant coach at Premier League club Aston Villa, before joining Leicester. If he does move to Saudi Arabia, he will join a list of former Premier League stars in the Saudi Pro League, including Steven Gerrard, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kanté.
