Jude Terry, rising teenage star drawing interest from U.S. and Mexico

MLS has a new breakout talent. At just 17, Jude Terry has quickly turned heads with his technical ability and striking power, already producing one of the standout goals of the 2026 season in American soccer.

Terry could soon become the subject of an international tug-of-war, with eligibility to represent the United States, where he was born, Mexico, through his grandparents, or Argentina, his father’s country of origin.

During LAFC’s matchup against the Portland Timbers, the teenager delivered a spectacular goal that immediately caught the attention of fans well beyond his own club.

Terry controlled a perfectly weighted pass and, with outstanding technique, rifled a shot into the top-left corner of the Timbers’ net.

Who will land Terry?

As one of the most promising young prospects in U.S. soccer, Terry could soon be at the center of a battle between national teams.

Both the United States and Mexico currently hold an edge, having already called him up at youth level, where he impressed in each setup.

Born in Chula Vista, California, Terry is currently part of the U.S. youth system, which could look to secure his long-term commitment with a senior call-up in the near future.
