Keep these MLS 2025 key dates in mind for next season
Major League Soccer has announced the schedule for the 2025 season, which will begin next February.
Major League Soccer (MLS) announced the official schedule for the 2025 season on Thursday, a landmark year marking the league’s 30th anniversary and the addition of its 30th franchise, San Diego FC.
The 2025 season will feature 510 regular-season games, beginning on February 22 and 23 with the highly anticipated “MLS is Back” weekend.
For the second consecutive year, Inter Miami will kick off the season, hosting NYCFC at Chase Stadium on Saturday, February 22, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, defending champions LA Galaxy will face the league’s newest team, San Diego FC, on Sunday, February 23, at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Changes incoming for the 2025 MLS season
MLS has introduced several exciting updates for the upcoming season. Among them is the inclusion of Sunday night All-Star Games, a significant addition that aims to enhance the league’s appeal and increase the relevance of the MLS Season Pass.

MLS Cup 2024 Rematch
A rematch of the 2024 MLS Cup will take place on May 10, with LA Galaxy visiting the New York Red Bulls.
30th Anniversary Celebrations
To commemorate three decades of MLS, two special matches will honour key moments in the league’s history:
- On April 6, San Jose Earthquakes will host D.C. United, recreating the league’s inaugural game.
- On July 12, LA Galaxy will face D.C. United in a re-enactment of the first MLS Cup Final at Dignity Health Sports Park.
MLS Rivalry Week
Rivalry Week returns from May 14-18, showcasing iconic matchups and regional derbies across the league. Confirmed games include:
- St. Louis City vs. Sporting Kansas City
- NYCFC vs. New York Red Bulls
- Inter Miami vs. Orlando City
- Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders
- LAFC vs. LA Galaxy
Decision Day
The regular season will conclude on Saturday, October 18, with the much-anticipated Decision Day. Eastern Conference matches will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET, followed by Western Conference games at 9:00 p.m. ET.
