After being presented as a new Real Madrid player on Tuesday, Kepa appeared before the media in what was his first public appearance as a Real Madrid player.

The Basque goalkeeper, who will wear the number 25 shirt at the Bernabéu, admitted that he was excited about his new chapter.

Joining Real Madrid

How do you feel?

“Hello everyone, first of all. Obviously, it’s a very happy day, very special for me, for all my family, for all my friends and close ones. I feel happy and proud to belong to Real Madrid. It’s a day to enjoy and share with those closest to me.”

Are you at your best?

“I’m more mature, that’s for sure. I’m coming at one of the best moments of my sporting career, after a great year. I am ready to face this challenge. I can assure you that commitment and hard work will not be lacking. These have been intense days, but when I received Real Madrid’s proposal, everything was clear.

“Soccer cannot be predicted, it is very changeable. I focus on every moment, wherever I am, and aim to give 100% for the team I’m with. And now, I’m ready to give 100% for Real Madrid. I am very happy to be here. You have to look to the future and the future is Real Madrid.”

What did you think when you were told that Real Madrid wanted you?

“The decision was very easy. I had proposals from big clubs, but when I heard about this option the decision was quite quick and easy.”

Replacing Courtois

Have you spoken to Courtois?

“Yes, obviously. I have spoken to him. He is going through the worst part now. Give him a lot of strength, a lot of encouragement, and wish him the best in his recovery. Hopefully, he can be back soon.”
