Key dates confirmed for the 2025 NWSL season
Orlando Pride will be out to defend their NWSL crown as the regular season gets underway on 14 March.
The NWSL have confirmed the key dates for the forthcoming 2025 season with the action for all participating teams getting underway on 14 March.
A week earlier, the traditional curtain raiser will see the Challenge Cup match held as Washington Spirit take on the defending champion and Shield winner Orlando Pride.
The game will be a rematch of the 2024 NWSL Championship and will be staged at Orlando’s Inter&Co Stadium.
March start for the league
Friday, 14 March sees the start date for the regular season campaign and the 2025 campaign will be the last to feature 14 teams with Boston (Bos Nation FC) set to join the league in 2026.

As in 2024, all 14 clubs will play a 26-match schedule, hosting and visiting each team in the league once with the top eight in the final standings progressing to the playoffs.
The final has been earmarked for 22 November with the hosting stadium yet to be announced.
NWSL 2025: key dates
Friday, 7 March: 2025 NWSL Challenge Cup (Orlando Pride vs. Washington Spirit)
Friday, 14 March: 2025 regular season kicks off
Monday, June 23 - Sunday, June 29: league-wide players’ week off
Month of July: break from regular season play
Friday, 1 August: return to regular season play
Friday, October 31 - Sunday, November 2: regular season concludes
Saturday, 22 November: 2025 NWSL Championship final
The full NWSL 2025 fixture list will be announced at a later date with games set to be broadcast live in the USA via CBS, ESPN/ABC, Prime Video and Scripps.
