Klopp says Liverpool quadruple talk is “crazy”

Liverpool has made the semi-finals of the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup for the first time ever, but Klopp is insistent that quadruple talk is crazy.

As the Reds get ready to take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, history waits to be made. If City wins, they would win a treble. If Liverpool wins, they could become the first team to ever win the quadruple: the League Cup, FA Cup, league title, and European Cup.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, however, is insistent that they are not thinking about the quadruple.

“Imagine I would sit here and you would not ask me about it and I started referring to it… you would think I’m completely mad!”

Liverpool are facing 10, or possibly even 11 games in 36 days to the final league game May 22. It’s possible there would be a 12th game just a week later in the Champions League. Klopp says that he and the team are enjoying the intensity of the season. As for the quadruple though, he doesn’t want to get ahead of himself just yet.

“We are not short of confidence and we don’t need another reason to want to be successful,” said Klopp. “Yes, winning against City would be outstanding. It doesn’t happen too often to anybody in the world of football.”

“But they are crazy good. There is not one percentage that if we win, we are a step closer to {winning the quadruple}. That would mean we’re in the final of the FA Cup, which would the mean we play either Crystal Palace or Chelsea.”

“We don’t think even for a second about after the game. We just prepare for the game.”
