Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham: as it happened

Thanks for joining!

Thanks for your company this evening. That's all from me. See you next time!

Spurs take point back to London

Conte's team defended for their lives and deserved the point in their race for Champions League football. They also had chances to win the game but overall a draw was a fair result.

All square at Anfield

Liverpool equalised in the second half through Luis Diaz after Son had put Spurs in front.

Spurs defended resolutely but Liverpool will feel it's two points dropped in the title race. If Man City beat Newcastle tomorrow they will go four points ahead at the top of the table.

FT: Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham

And it ends all square at Anfield.

Davies clears the corner and Michael Oliver blows the whistle for full-time!

Liverpool corner!

Hojbjerg is all alone at the back post but heads it back across goal instead of at goal. Kane can't believe it. It's a huge chance for Spurs to win the game.

We're going until the 95th minute...

Keita gets a yellow for a high foot on Kane.

Son goes off

ON Bergwijn

SALAH shoots!

It deflects off Sanchez and goes out for a corner. Liverpool fail to make the most of the resulting set piece. 1-1

Thiago creates some space for himself, and lifts a ball to Alexander-Arnold, who is all alone at the back post, but there's too much on it.

Liverpool are playing with four forwards now. They need a goal!

Spurs hit Liverpool on the break. Son picks out Davies on the overlap. The Welshman blasts over.

Tottenham substitution

ON Harry Winks

OFF Dejan Kulusevski

Spurs defend well again. Tsimikas crosses from the left. Dier heads it away. The Spurs defence have dealt well with the numerous crosses from both flanks tonight. They're playing a 5-3-2 at the minute. 1-1

Son’s next corner is headed clear by Konaté.

It's another poor corner from the left by Son. Thiago heads it away.

Spurs sub

OFF Ryan Sessegnon

ON Davinson Sanchez

Spurs have played with their backs to the wall for most of this so their game plan won't exactly change after Diaz's goal.

It’s all square at Anfield. Will Liverpool go on and nick a winner to keep the pressure on Man City?

Diaz makes it 1-1

What a signing this guy has been for Liverpool.

Diaz's shot from 20 yards takes a deflection off Bentancur and it leaves Lloris with no chance.

Diaz pulls one back for Liverpool.

It's super defending by Ben Davies as Salah cuts onto his left and shoots inside the box. Salah had gotten away from him but it's an excellent block from Davies.

Sessegnon also gets himself a yellow after pulling Salah back as he goes storming down the right.

Tsimikas is booked for a foul on Kulusevski.

Spurs are defending deeply now. Tsimikas looks to square it from the left but Romero reads it and clears again. You can feel the frustration growing inside Anfield.

Double change for Liverpool

Jota and Tsimikas are on.

Diaz sees his effort blocked by Davies after Van Dijk had headed Robertson's corner down.

Liverpool have scored 139 goals this season but they need a couple here otherwise City have one hand on the Premier League title.

Robertson’s corner is headed clear. It remains 0-1 to Spurs at Anfield. Son has scored his 20th Premier League goal of the season.

Tottenham win another loose ball. Kulusevski collects it and drives it straight at Alisson from 20 or so yards.

Konaté can't keep his header down from Robertson's left wing cross.

Spurs ahead at Anfield

It's that man again!

It's Son - his 20th of the season and it's a super goal. Kane picks out Sessegnon, who squares it to Son and he finishes from close range.

Sessegnon wins a corner for Spurs. Son takes it from the left. Thiago heads it away at the near post. It's a poor corner from Son.

Davies wrestles Salah to the ground and picks up a deserved yellow for it from Michael Oliver.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 21 league games at Anfield, having won each of their last 12.

Spurs are under the cosh and once again head away another Alexander-Arnold corner from the right. Liverpool have started the second half full of intent.

Alexander-Arnold drives a low cross into the 6-yard box. Davies cleares the danger first time.

There have been no changes made at the break.

Liverpool get us underway for the second half!

All square at Anfield

Liverpool have looked the brighter but haven't been able to open the scoring.

HT: Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs will be the happier side at the break. Liverpool went close through a Van Dijk header that hit the crossbar but it remains goalless at the break.

There will be one additional minute.

Spurs respond to the pressure with a chance of their own. Hojbjerg cracks the left upright with a low shot from distance.

Liverpool are really cranking up the pressure now. Diaz goes for the one-two with Mané before whipping a low effort from outside the area to Lloris' left. The Frenchman gets down to keep the game scoreless.

Alexander-Arnold sends his free-kick from 25 yards straight into the wall. Spurs have had to block numerous Liverpool efforts. The crowd are roaring the home team on as they look to break the deadlock at Anfield.

Van Dijk hits the bar!

He gets away from his marker Emerson but doesn't get a full connection on the header, which hits the top of the Spurs bar.

Dier heads away another excellent Alexander-Arnold free from the right. Dier reads it well. 0-0

Davies is somehow not booked for catching Salah after a poor pass from Romero.

Robertson catches Emerson. It's a Spurs free. Conte didn't like that one. He's as animated as ever on the touchline.

Liverpool are applying all the pressure but they've been unable to find that final pass in and around the box.

Kane stat

Harry Kane has completed more dribbles (2) than he has passes (1) against Liverpool.

Thiago picks Diaz out at the back post. Mané was waiting for the ball at the opposite post but Diaz's headed cross is stopped by Lloris.

Goalless at Anfield

Spurs will be pleased with their opening half an hour.

Spurs' corner is cleared away by Alexander-Arnold.

Diaz cuts in from the left but Dier reads it well and blocks the Colombian's shot after he showed really good feet to get past Romero. He's already a hero around Anfield.

Fabinho catches Kane as he goes to ground. It's a worrying one for Spurs fans when Kane goes down, given his injury record.

Alexander-Arnold fires over from outside the box. It's always rising but he was in acres of space so you can't blame him for having a go.

Van Dijk!

He rises highest to head the corner wide. He will be disappointed with the effort as he's all alone.

Davies nicks the ball off Salah and it goes out. It's a Liverpool corner but Michael Oliver somehow awards Tottenham a goal kick.

Alexander-Arnold crosses into the penalty area from the right, but Emerson is able to clear for Spurs. That's where Trent comes into his own and the speed he gets on those crosses is quite impressive.

Antonio Conte's men are trailing Arsenal by two points as they seek a place in the top four before the end of the season.

The referee blows his whistle for a clear handball by Kulusevski in the Liverpool box. Spurs are making their way into the game after a bright start by Liverpool.

Kulusevski is back on his feet. He's playing to Kane's right today and has been really impressive since joining Spurs from Juventus.

Dejan Kulusevski is down injured at the minute after Thiago pushed him from behind.

Henderson blocks superbly from Kane's left-footed strike inside the box. Conte will be happy with his team's performance so far.

Kane goes on a fine run after beating a couple of players, but Alexander-Arnold does well to win it back off his England team-mate.

Bentancur shoots from the edge of the box but Alisson gets down to keep it out. Spurs caught Liverpool out on the break. Kane's cross was paried away by Alisson but Bentancur wasn't able to beat the Brazilian netminder.

Conte has set his side up in a 5-4-1 when defending, with Kane the lone wolf up front.

It's all Liverpool so far at Anfield. They're on a high from their Champions League win over Villarreal in midweek.

Emerson and Robertson are both down after clashing in the box.

Mané shoots! It's straight at Lloris.

A lively start from Liverpool.

Spurs get us underway!

There's a great atmosphere at Anfield tonight, and it's obviously a brilliant time to be following the club.

The players are in the tunnel at Anfield. We're just minutes away from kick-off!

Jurgen Klopp hails new signing Luis Diaz

Jurgen Klopp has praised the impact of Luis Diaz since his arrival at Liverpool, describing the Colombian forward as "world-class".

Diaz made the move to Anfield from Porto in the January transfer window for a reported initial fee of £37.5million (€45m), with a further £12.5m (€15m) in add-ons, and he has played a key role in Liverpool's pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.

The 25-year-old has five goals and three assists from 21 appearances in all competitions for the Reds so far (13 starts), and he has averaged more dribbles attempted per 90 minutes (5.16) and has a higher successful dribble percentage (61.64) than any other Liverpool forward this season.

Speaking at a media conference ahead of the game with Tottenham, Klopp stated how important the decision had been to bring Diaz in when they did, with the player making a key contribution on Tuesday when Liverpool came from 2-0 down against Villarreal to win 3-2 in their Champions League semi-final second leg and book their place in the Paris final against Real Madrid.

"Unbelievable impact," Klopp said. "There is enough space in each squad in the world for a world-class player, which is what Luis is. That's why we were so desperate to get him, and that's why we were so happy that we could... Thank God we made that decision because it helped everywhere.

"He communicates with everybody without really speaking the language. Okay, we have the Spanish [speakers] and they are really close, they helped him so much… But he's really close with Curtis [Jones] and Harvey [Elliott], I have no idea how they talk. On an emotional basis they are like this (tight), and they were after a week."

Salah set for 250

Mo Salah is in the Liverpool starting eleven and will make his 250th appearance for the club tonight.

Brighton beating Manchester United

In other Premier League news, Manchester United are currently losing 4-0 against Brighton. New manager Erik Ten Hag really does have a huge job on his hands.

They have conceded 56 goals in the Premier League this season, their most in a single campaign in the competition.
