Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah makes plea for people of Gaza
The Egyptian player had been criticised for not speaking up for Palestinians following escalation of Israel-Hamas conflict.

Given his nation’s proximity and potential role in the situation, the video message arrived following much criticism aimed at the 31-year-old for not saying more in defence of those innocent people caught up in the fighting. On Tuesday, an explosion at a Gaza hospital that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians - with Hamas and Israel pointing fingers at each other for the blame - has potentially been the breaking point for the player.
Mo Salah calls for “massacres to stop”
“There has been too much violence and too much heartbreaking brutality,” Salah continued, “all lives are sacred and must be protected.
“The massacres need to stop; families are being torn apart. What’s clear now is that humanitarian aid to Gaza must be allowed immediately. The people there are in terrible conditions. The scenes at the hospital last night were horrifying. The people of Gaza need food, water and medical supplies urgently.
“I’m calling on the world leaders to come together to prevent further slaughter of innocent souls. Humanity must prevail.”
