Manchester United fans will peacefully protest against the Glazers

The Red Devils are experiencing another disappointing season and the supporters are blaming the owners for the lack of silverware.

Manchester United fans will peacefully protest against the Glazers

Manchester United will not win silverware this season and their supporters are tired of seeing their team failing season-after-season. The last time they won the Premier League trophy was in 2013 under manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who would retire at the end of that campaign.

Since then Manchester United have failed to be competitive against the top clubs in Europe across all competitions and the fans are planning a peaceful protest against the owners, the Glazer family. The group known as the 1958 are planning a new anti-Glazers protest prior to the league game against Norwich on 16 April.

Fans don’t want Manchester United to turn into ‘another Liverpool’

It has been nine years since the Red Devils won the Premier League and they have not been a competitive team since the 2012/13 campaign. The 1958 group used their social media account to encourage the fans to meet at the Tollgate hostelry in Stretford before marching to Old Trafford for the game against the Canaries.

This is not the first time that the supporters have expressed their discontent against the Glazers, the American family that own Manchester United - last year they protested against their intentions to join the European Super League. There is also a digital campaign that started last year of fans pressuring the American owners to leave or make the club competitive again.

Malcolm Glazer took over Manchester United in 2005 and the franchise kept winning silverware in the early years. But in 2014 Malcolm passed away and his six children inherited the club and things have been complicated since.
