Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back against Fulham in London on Sunday after suffering a 3-1 defeat away to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa last weekend. Erik ten Hag’s side recorded a 4-2 victory over Villa in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night thanks to goals from Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay. United will be confident going into Sunday’s clash having won their last five away matches against Fulham in all competitions.

Manchester United team news

Cristiano Ronaldo is out for United’s final game before the World Cup. The Portuguese forward missed the club’s Carabao Cup win over Villa through illness and has not travelled to London with the rest of the squad ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture.

Fellow Portugal international Diogo Dalot is suspended for United, and with Aaron Wan-Bissaka absent, Victor Lindelof could start at right-back. Jadon Sancho and Antony will also miss the trip to Craven Cottage. The latter has missed United’s last four games due to a muscular injury.

Raphaël Varane, who has been called up for the France World Cup despite being injured in the club’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea in October, remains on the sidelines.

France boss Didier Deschamps explained his decision to bring the 29-year-old to Qatar, saying: “For Varane, it’s a little longer injury, but he will be available for the first match against Australia if all is fine.”

France will face Australia on November 22, giving the former Real Madrid man time to return to full fitness.

Mitrovic out for Fulham

Fulham currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table. Marco Silva’s side will be without the in-form Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has been ruled out with a foot problem. Mitrovic will undergo medical tests next week as he battles to be fit for the start of Serbia’s World Cup campaign in Qatar.
