The French striker denied rumours that suggested he wanted to leave the Ligue 1 club in the January transfer window.

“I am very happy” at Paris Saint-Germain, “I never asked to leave in January,” said Kylian Mbappé on Sunday after the 1-0 win over Olympique Marseille, four days after the controversy surrounding his alleged desire to leave the Parisian club.

The player said he was not “involved in any way” in the rumour that surfaced on Tuesday about his desire to leave in the January transfer window, which emerged before the match against Benfica, he said in the mixed zone after Sunday’s Le Classique.

This “information that came out on the day of the game I didn’t understand, I was as surprised as everyone else. People may think I’m involved, but I’m not involved at all”, he insisted.

Several sources concur however, that the rumour of a desire to leave the club where he renewed his contract in May, after lengthy negotiations, came from the world champion’s entourage.
