Messi and F1’s Franco Colapinto finally meet in Miami — and he might show up at Sunday’s Grand Prix
The highly anticipated meeting between Inter Miami’s captain and the Alpine-Mercedes driver took place on the eve of this weekend’s Miami GP.

Formula 1 is back after its forced break following the cancellations in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and its return brings one of the most anticipated crossovers in sports. With the next race taking place in Miami, Alpine driver Franco Colapinto finally got the meeting he’d been dreaming about: a face‑to‑face with Lionel Messi.
Colapinto arrived in Miami on Tuesday to prepare for F1’s big weekend and made a special stop at Inter Miami’s Florida Blue Training Center, where he was able to meet Messi in person — a moment the young Argentine driver had been hoping for since joining the grid.
Will Messi attend the Miami Grand Prix to support Colapinto?
One of the big questions heading into this weekend at the Miami Gardens circuit is whether Messi will be in the stands. And the schedule actually works in his favor.
Inter Miami face Orlando City at the Nu Stadium on Saturday night in another edition of the “Clásico del Sol.” With no match on Sunday, Messi is completely free — making an appearance at the Miami Grand Prix a real possibility.
If he goes, he wouldn’t be alone. Messi could show up with Rodrigo De Paul and several Inter Miami teammates to support Colapinto, who will race for Alpine, and Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who will be driving for Cadillac in the brand’s first home Grand Prix.
