On Monday, an incredibly emotional moment unfolded at the Florida Blue Training Center of Inter Miami, as Thiago Messi and Benjamín Suárez were crowned champions of the ‘Weston Cup and Show,’ a Sub-12 tournament, in front of their illustrious fathers, Lionel and Luis. The young players took a victory lap, showing their parents the way forward for a campaign filled with challenges.

Messi and Suárez: the kids are alright

A video circulating on social media shows Thiago Messi scoring a rather lovely volleyed goal in the decisive match, once again demonstrating the quality he possesses as the eldest son of the senior Herons’ famous number 10. Since his days in youth football, Messi Roccuzzo’s eldest has been instrumental in lifting trophies.

The footage also highlights the close bond between Thiago and Benjamín, reflecting the strong relationship between their families. This closeness is further evident as the captain of Inter Miami and the number 9 were seen sitting on the sidelines, supporting the Under-12s.

Now time for Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez

While it’s true that Messi already led the Herons to their first-ever title with the 2023 Leagues Cup, with the arrival of ‘El Pistolero,’ the Fort Lauderdale franchise is aiming even higher. This year, they will compete in Major League Soccer 2024, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, and the US Open Cup, dreaming of adding more silverware to the DRV PNK Stadium’s trophy cabinet.

Suárez’s adventure in the North American league begins on Wednesday, where he must be one of the top strikers to contribute from day one towards the biggest goal for Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino’s side, which is to continue progressing as they enter the organization’s fifth year in Florida. Meanwhile, for Messi, the excitement of making history on the pitches of the United States is renewed.
