MLS clubs and Monterrey monitoring América’s Henry Martín
If no agreement is reached with América, the Mexican forward could have several options elsewhere.
After a week full of rumors linking Uruguayan striker Jonathan Rodríguez with the Portland Timbers, now it is another of América’s strikers whose future is being discussed. According to information from reporter Julio Ibáñez, Henry Martín wants to stay at the club and the board want him to stay, but “an agreement has not yet come to fruition”.
América is offering him a three-year contract and the striker wants a good deal, and that is where there are differences. Despite the fact that talks have not yet fallen through to reach a deal that is satisfactory for both parties, rumors have begun to emerge.
According to FIFA regulations, the refusal to renew Martín’s contract with América allows the striker to negotiate with any club when he has six months left on his contract. According to the same source, both Monterrey and some MLS teams would be the most interested in acquiring his services. Rayados is the Mexican club that is reportedly interested in the prolific striker but it remains to be seen where he will end up.
