The time has come for Monterrey to make good on their regular-season form in the Clausura 2023 playoffs. Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s men, who won the league phase with 40 points - a club record in the Liga MX’s short-tournament era - now face Santos Laguna in the postseason quarter-finals.

Rayados rested and with no injuries or suspensions

Monterrey will go into today’s first leg at the Estadio Nuevo Corona having enjoyed a longer rest than their hosts. While Santos had to negotiate a preliminary-round clash with Pachuca on Saturday, Rayados’ automatic qualification for the last eight means they haven’t played since 30 April.

What’s more, Monterrey boss Vucetich has a full complement of players at his disposal.

Monterrey’s potential line-up against Santos Laguna

All the indications are that Rayados’ starting XI to face Santos today will be: Esteban Andrada; Stefan Medina, Víctor Guzmán, Héctor Moreno y Jesús Gallardo; Maxi Meza, Luis Romo, Celso Ortíz, Alfonso González, Rogelio Funes Mori and Germán Berterame.
