Lionel Messi is not missing a thing when it comes to his new club, Cornellà, who play in Spain’s fifth tier. Just 10 days after the Argentine superstar’s purchase of the Spanish side was officially announced, excitement has swept through the town south of Barcelona.

Messi has remained deeply engaged with the team’s progress, following developments closely as he steps into his role as owner.

Instagram post shows Miami-to-Spain connection

On Instagram, Messi shared an Instagram Story showing that he was watching Cornellà’s match against Europa B from Miami. He paired the image with an encouraging message for his new team: “Vamoss!!”

Unfortunately for Cornellà, the support did not translate into good fortune. The team ended up losing 2-1, despite pulling a goal back late in the match.

Timing worked in Messi’s favor

The game kicked off at 7:30 p.m. local time in Spain, which was 1:30 p.m. in Florida. With Inter Miami not in action over the weekend, Messi had the free time to tune in to what was an important match for his newly acquired club.

Playoff push still alive

With two matches remaining, Cornellà sits third in the standings and holds a solid cushion over the teams currently outside the playoff positions.

However, the top spot is now mathematically out of reach, meaning direct promotion is no longer possible. The focus shifts firmly to securing a playoff berth and keeping momentum alive heading into the final stretch.
