Jaime ‘Jimmy’ Lozano, the head coach of the Mexican national soccer team, made an appearance at the Estadio Azteca on account of the two Sunday afternoon matches. The coach was there to assess players from the four teams and consider the best ones for the upcoming call-up to the national team roster.

Mexico decisions for Lozano

Matchday 4 of the Apertura 2023 featured Cruz Azul against Santos in the initial fixture, followed by América and Atlas. Originally scheduled to take place at the Estadio Jalisco, this battle had to be relocated to the capital city due to issues with the poor condition of the field. All the results from Matchday 4.

This visit marked the first by the Mexican strategist following his tenure with the senior squad in the previous Gold Cup. Likewise, it marks the commencement of his tenure as the leader of El Tri, prompting him to scout potential talents that could be included in the roster for the upcoming FIFA international window.

The next matches of the green, white and red team will take place in just under three weeks. The first of two will be on September 9, against Australia, at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Three days later ‘Jimmy’s team’ will seek to defeat Uzbekistan at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in Atlanta.
