No Vinicius Jr. for Real Madrid tonight despite rescinded red card

The Brazilian’s red card at Mestalla on Sunday was overturned by the Competition Committee but the Brazilian is ruled out of the LaLiga game against Rayo.

Vinicius Jr. has been ruled out of Wednesday’s LaLiga clash against Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabéu. In the midst of the controversy over the racist insults he was subjected to at Mestalla, the Brazilian will not be able to play tonight even though he is no longer suspended.

The Brazilian was originally left out of the squad on Tuesday and nothing will change despite the fact that late on Tuesday the Competition Committee overturned his red card at Mestalla and subsequent suspension.

Knee problems

Vinicius trained alone in the gym at the club’s Valdebebas training complex on Monday and a knee problem has ruled him out of the game against Rayo Vallecano with doubts about the Brazilian being fit to face Sevilla next weekend.

Despite the winger being ruled out of the penultimate home match of the season, Real Madrid plan to use the game to make a public display of support for the 22-year-old before, during, and after the contest against Rayo Vallecano.

The home side will display a banner condemning racism and demonstrating their unwavering backing of the player with the pivotal moment set to take place in the 20th minute of the game (Vini Jr. wears the No. 20 shirt) with the Bernabeu crowd set to chant the player’s name denouncing the racist abuse suffered not just at Mestalla on Sunday but at countless LaLiga grounds this season.

RM XI vs Rayo

Carlo Ancelotti will play Rodrygo in place of Vinicius and the right wing will set to be manned by Uruguayan Fede Valverde.

Real Madrid possible XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Nacho; Camavinga, Modric, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema and Rodrygo.
