Pedri drops out of Barcelona squad before key week in LaLiga and Champions League
Barcelona’s star midfielder Pedri has been sidelined late on due to illness.

Pedri, who reportedly had a rough night battling stomach discomfort, will not be joining the squad today.
Head coach Flick is already dealing with the absence of Dani Olmo, who remains sidelined due to a strain in the soleus muscle of his right leg. However, the team faced another unexpected setback this morning.
Why is Pedri not playing for Barcelona against Barcelona?
Pedri arrived at the team’s training facility in poor condition after a restless night caused by illness. Accompanied by his father, the young midfielder showed visible signs of discomfort.
He skipped the warm-up session entirely and left the facility just 30 minutes later. Given these circumstances, the coaching staff has decided to err on the side of caution, and Pedri is expected to miss the game entirely.

Barça preparing for a packed schedule
Looking ahead to the match against Valencia, set for 3:00 PM ET at Montjuïc, Flick is likely to make several rotations to manage player workload. The team faces a demanding schedule, including a Champions League clash against Atalanta on Wednesday and the physical toll of last Tuesday’s game against Benfica.
Key players like Gavi and Marc Casadó may be given a rest, paving the way for Frenkie de Jong and Fermín López to step in.
