Tigres’ Clausura 2025 campaign came to a heartbreaking end. took Saturday’s 3-0 second leg win meant Toluca advance, winning the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

For head coach Guido Pizarro, the defeat marked the conclusion of a golden period for the club. The Argentine coach acknowledged that Tigres is in the process of undergoing a major roster overhaul, with many key players from their dominant years no longer part of the squad. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized that this new generation is building its own legacy and will use the experience to push Tigres back to the top.

Tigres head coach Guido Pizarro reflected on his team’s Clausura 2025 semifinal exit, acknowledging that the team is undergoing a generational shift.

A lot of players from our golden era are no longer here. This is a completely new group, building its own history, and this experience will surely help them continue pushing Tigres to the top, as we have in past years,” Pizarro told reporters after the match.

Pizarro apology

Expressing disappointment for missing out on another final, the coach emphasized the need for a deep analysis to determine what steps to take next to improve the squad. “Obviously we’re sad for not being able to give our fans another final, we fell just short, like in the Concachampions. We will conduct a thorough review, assess our work, and decide the path forward. This group has faced both tournaments well, is constructing a new team, and we will work to ensure that the standard remains reaching the final,” he added.

Tigres shocking stat away from home

Tigres’ struggles on the road have been a major concern, with the team failing to score in seven consecutive away matches. For Pizarro, such a statistic is unacceptable for a club of Tigres’ caliber: “This is something we cannot allow for Tigres. It’s an issue we need to analyze and work on moving forward, but yes, it’s definitely something that must improve”.

Tigres have now officially started the preseason, shifting their focus toward reinforcements for the Apertura 2025. For now Pizarro remains at the helm, backed by the club’s leadership as they strategize for the upcoming season
